Every error we find — in third-party listings, viral claims, or on councils' own pages — is logged publicly with the wrong value, the correct value, and how it was confirmed. This log is why the methodology includes arithmetic checks, and why council tax data elsewhere is so often wrong. Cross-check any figure on the national table or see how each council scores on the data confidence index.
Cardiff Council
Third-party aggregators copied the GOV.WALES area average for the Cardiff area and presented it as the statutory charge. The statutory Band D on Cardiff's own published figures is £2,008.86.

Newcastle City Council
£1,844.63 is the city council element only. The actual Band D bill including police and fire precepts is £2,540.66 — nearly £700 more. Aggregators presented the partial figure as the total.

Coventry City Council
A widely-circulated claim of a 34.2% rise is false. No UK council raised council tax by anything close to that for 2026/27; the claim propagated between sites that copy each other rather than the source.

Westminster City Council
Westminster's own table contains two typos: an error in the Band B GLA cell, and swapped Band G columns. The band totals remain internally consistent, which is how the typos were isolated.

Exeter City Council

Norwich City Council
